Exposure!

According to the Freedictionary.com site, exposure is a “revelation, the condition of being exposed, the act or an instance of exposing” and I must say most of us today leave in a world where “absolutes” rules us, as Bishop TD Jakes says. True Love will lead you to exposure because you will want to experience all that the world, not the human ruling system at work within it, has to offer since this world was created for you to enjoy and take dominion over it by walking in authority; by walking in the me, you, us, that God created.

I remember that as a child my mother made sure that I was exposed to the best and finest of things. She used to be able to travel around, especially to Europe, and bring me brand name clothes and cologne from Europe. As a child, I took everything for granted and did not truly appreciate it. Now as an adult I look back and I understand better why my mom forced new things upon me. I look through some of the clothes I have today and that taste in clothing stayed with me and I still have some of the clothes that she had bought for me 18yrs ago, that still fit me. I am equally grateful to my cousins, Martine and Cassandre, for having exposed me to oldies music and true hip-hop when I was young and impressionable, because today I can tell the difference between real music and crap. Thanks to different people in my family, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, I was exposed to many different things, which now I can see has truly helped in forming my character and who I am, not what people want me to be. Being expose the true knowledge, life, real music and different cultures has shaped and/or has been used in the education of the person called me.

Lately, I am being reminded, by my spirit or higher consciousness, that I am neglecting and have been shunning my development or growth because I stopped exposing myself. When was the last time did you decide and go do something that you have always wanted to try or do but have never got around to it or allowed circumstances and situations and fears from accomplishing such a task? Every day I hear of something that 12yrs-17yrs old has done, accomplished and are in the process of doing. The reasons that they are able to get to such accomplishments are because they have been exposed to many different things in their young life, which has propel them to either travel around the world in a boat and even start two different companies. Another effect of exposure is the ability to dream. These kids, and adults, who have dared to venture, dared to dream by exposing themselves to different things in life and different cultures. As you are reading this what is your next move?

By the grace of my Abba, my God, I was born into freedom. Freedom, liberties, enables us to be exposed to all that we are to see, think and imagine. Freedom, liberties, also helps us to get expose to things we could not have thought, ask or imagine, which can be, nonetheless, beautiful and rich experiences. Many great man (men and women) have sought knowledge, truth and understanding and still do today. Mahatma Gandhi said once “”I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ…” (Thinkexist – Mahatma Gandhi). In order for one, such as Mahatma Gandhi, to make such a keen observation, he would have to be around, know, and speak with Christians and he would have to read the bible for himself and heard about Jesus’ life. So, why are we so afraid to speak with our Muslim, Hindu, atheists, anarchist, whatever other “religion” or belief without trying to convert them? Is God that incapable that he would need you to convert others? We are to share the piece of truth that we know and learn the piece of truth that the others know and to do that we need to allow ourselves to be exposed.

Jesus, in speaking to the supposed learned ones, the pharisees, said to them “I’m only quoting your inspired Scriptures, where God said, ‘I tell you—you are gods.’ If God called your ancestors ‘gods’—and Scripture doesn’t lie—why do you yell, ‘Blasphemer! Blasphemer!’ at the unique One the Father consecrated and sent into the world, just because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’? If I don’t do the things my Father does, well and good; don’t believe me. But if I am doing them, put aside for a moment what you hear me say about myself and just take the evidence of the actions that are right before your eyes. Then perhaps things will come together for you, and you’ll see that not only are we doing the same thing, we are the same—Father and Son. He is in me; I am in him.” (Bible Gateway John 10:34-36). Just by reading this you can see that Jesus was well verse in other scriptures, which begs the question why are we, who profess to be reconnected to God and are His children, thanks to Him, Jesus, are not exposing ourselves to all truths and allowing the Holy Spirit to teach and guide us in them. I refuse to remain impotent, in speaking of my mind, because impotency of mind and spirit means death. You do not have to be six feet under to be dead; refusing to learn, educate, innovate, reinvent, Love yourself, all the while holding fast to God and His love for you means your choice is cessation of life, growth, freedom, dream, and hope. Cessation is death of mind, body, soul and spirit, which would make you are a walking corpse, or a zombie. Can you stand to be different?

I remember watching the Malcolm X movie, starring Denzel Washington, and he was Malcolm little before becoming Malcolm X. He was exposed to many of life’s hardships and good times as well. However, he knew that as he was, he did not truly have freedom, especially in the age he lived in, and so allowed himself to be exposed to something different, Nation of Islam. Now, as he was being groomed for his new life and quest, he had stopped seeking new knowledge or truth and instead was being driven by hatred and what has been coined as groupthink. However, he was able to free himself when he went to Mecca and exposed himself to greater knowledge and truth. After being exposed, or being on an expedition of rediscovery of self, mind, body, soul and spirit. So, were it not for exposure, we might not have had the Malcolm X we have come to know and Love. So, how are you using this information as you reading?

I do not profess to know it all; I do not profess to have all the truths and knowing this enables me to seek greater knowledge, truths, understanding and love from the great and might God, Abba to me. I refuse to live in a victim, lost, and piteous mentality. I choose to experience the earth, life, love, self and God that my heavenly Father created just for me. I started a list and within this list I decided, and still writing, on different experiences I want to have. Have you decided to be bold and serious about you?

I pray that this reaches you in love.

Unconditionally
